| JOICFP Lends its Voice to PAJ
Annual Meeting
Established in 1948, the Population ASSOCIATION of Japan
(PAJ) publishes research articles, including those on population
and aging, migration, families and labor, and encourages regional
cooperation on related topics. Over 450 researchers and demographers
are members of PAJ, and on 11th and 12th June, PAJ held its
56th Annual Meeting at Tokyo University.

Ryoko Nishida highlights JOICFP's
experience in the Philippines |
In a session on Gender and Population Problems, Ryoko Nishida,
Director, International Program, JOICFP, spoke on Gender and
Reproductive Health - Learning From the Field, citing the
example of JOICFP's Philippines' project and focusing on the
challenges of male involvement at the community level.
In another session, Dr. Toshio Kuroda, President, JOICFP,
spoke on Demographic Inversion and Population, raising the
issue of economic development and population growth in developing
countries (see Voice of Voices).
In addition, Kiyoko Ikegami, Director, UNFPA Tokyo Office
chaired a symposium on Reproductive Health in Very Low Fertility
Societies.
