| 9th Matsumoto Award
On 28th March, the 9th Matsumoto Award ceremony was held
in Tokyo, in recognition of Seiichi Matsumoto, President,
Japan Family Planning Association (JFPA), and a pioneer of
obstetrics and gynecology in Japan.

To date, 19 medical professionals have been awarded for their
contributions to advancing and improving the fields of reproductive
health, family planning, contraception and medical technology,
and this year, Dr Takeshi Aso, and Dr. Seiichi Katagiri were
recognized.
Dr. Aso, former Professor, Tokyo Medical and Dental College,
and a member of the board of the Japan Society of Obstetrics
and Gynecology, was awarded for his pioneering activities
in improving the quality of life of menopausal women in Japan.
Dr. Katagiri of the Aomori Rousai Hospital, was awarded for
his local efforts in preventing an countering teenage pregnancy,
and for energetically promoting and improving sex education
for youths and adolescents.
The selection committee comprised members of JFPA, JOICFP,
the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Japan
Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Japanese
Society of Fertility and Sterility.
