| Update on JOICFP Assistance
to Java Earthquake
Shortly after the earthquake in Java on 26th May, the Indonesia
Planned Parenthood Association (IPPA) requested JOICFP's support
in reconstruction efforts. JOICFP had been selected by the
Shinnyo-en
group to deliver \5 million
(approx. US$42,000) in assistance, and JOICFP utilized the
funds through IPPA and YKB, one of Indonesia's largest national
NGOs. Shinnyo-en had previously supported JOICFP projects
in Vietnam and Sumatra.

JOICFP supported the delivery of sanitary goods and medicinal
supplies, especially for mothers and children, and also sent
two, 40-foot containers of relief clothing to Java, with the
support of JRCC
and NYK
shipping line. JOICFP supporters, members of the public, donated
generously as well.
With JOICFP's support, IPPA has set up two mobile clinics
in Java and will draw on its experience from the Asian tsunami
of December 2004.
