| JOICFP Promotes ASRH with Innovative
Sex Educator
On 12th January, Jay
Friedman, a freelance sex educator, based in Seattle,
U.S.A. delivered a workshop at JOICFP. Twenty-five people
participated, including university students, peer educators
and youth advocators.
Three people, Three questions
Friedman introduced several ice-breaking games and tips that
can be effectively used for sexuality education for youth.
One game was called "Three people, Three questions"
which was to ask a different question each time to three people
consecutively. One of the questions was: "How can one
tell that you want to kiss them?" After questions had
been asked and answered, the respondent and questioner exchanged
signatures.
After the exercise, Friedman explained that one person in
the group for the sake of argument was HIV-positive. He then
showed how easy it was for sexually transmitted infections
(STIs) to spread by asking who had received the signature
of the 'HIV-positive' person, and who had then received the
signature of those people, etc.
Before coming to Japan this time, Friedman held a workshop
for university students in Shanghai. He encourages audience
participation and self-awareness on a wide range of sexuality
topics.
