Supported by the World Bank, JOICFP is conducting a capacity building project for NGOs with focus on skills to produce advocacy tools for adolescent sexual reproductive health (ASRH) by youth leaders.
Following initial training in May 2007, 10 youth representatives from Nepal and Sri Lanka took part in a Visual Media Contents Development session from 12th to 16th October 2007, organized by JOICFP in collaboration with the World Bank Sri Lanka Office and the Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka. In addition, self-funded representatives from Myanmar attended.
After reviewing the first training, Atsushi Yoshino, BCC/Advocacy Advisor, JOICFP, gave a critical review of draft scripts prepared by the youth participants during May to August 2007, and delivered a sample shooting script based on output from the first training.
From this, Nepal and Sri Lanka revised their drafts and made a final shooting script.
The participants were then taught the concept of continuity, which they practiced on a script scene.

Practicing continuity...

... and receiving expert advice on continuity
The trainees learned about using digital video cameras and practiced shooting, considering points such as direction, roles, camera work, etc.

Playing different roles to understand
the process of shooting
The participants then learned how to use and prepare call sheets, and drafted a shooting schedule.
The final day saw the trainees participate in shooting as actors for parts to be utilized for the Asia regional version of advocacy video, which also helped them better understand the needs of direction and the whole shooting process.
The final product is expected to be completed by the end of the year, which will be utilized by the youth leaders in their advocacy actions on ASRH in each concerned country.
A regional version of the advocacy material is expected to be produced, in addition to the country materials. |
