Project for Strengthening Adolescent Reproductive Health in the Republic of Nicaragua


Project Objectives
  -Overall Goal
Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) in the target areas (Granada and Boaco) is improved by preventing unwanted/unexpected pregnancy and STI・HIV/AIDS in adolescents in two target areas.
-Project Purpose
As model for other departments, adolescents in the target areas take appropriate behavior with proper knowledge of ARH and use youth friendly health care services.
Implementing Agency
  JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency)
(JOICFP has been fully entrusted by JICA to promote the project activities in the project areas in Nicaragua.)

JOICFP Expertise in IEC Expands in Nicaragua

Activities
  The project conducts training of health staff and provides necessary equipment to the municipal health centers in the project areas, SILAIS Granada and Boaco for the realization of youth friendly ARH services with good quality. The project also supports activities of adolescent clubs, strengthens the network among school, NGOs, community organizations, local government and adolescents themselves in the community in order to create conducive environment for ARH promotion, disseminates ARH information and knowledge and promotes BCC (Behavior Change Communication) activities.
